10 billion: the number of downloads from the Android Market since its inception in late 2008. Therefore a figure when you consider that the first billion was reached there a little over a year, in July 2010.
Google is very proud of the growth of the Android Market, and especially of its enormous success with the owners of Android phones – 200 million worldwide at present. In just three years, the application platform has recorded no less than 10 billion download, 7 billion in 2011 and 4 billion over the last 6 months alone.
On the Google Mobile blog, the company announced that number should now grow at a rate of one billion additional downloads per month, and hopes to see this level of course change again in 2012.
