RIM rename BBX in Blackberry 10

United States continued to use a trademark, the Canadian RIM has finally decided to change the name of its future mobile operating system: BBX finally called Blackberry 10.
As we enter an event in Singapore organized by developers for RIM (the DevCon Asia), the Canadian manufacturer announced via Twitter that his neighbor’s mobile operating system would eventually be called “Blackberry 10″, not “BBX” as he called him so far.


For several weeks, “BBX” is the subject of legal proceedings between RIM and the American Basis International, which markets 26 years its developer tools under that mark. If the Canadian manufacturer believes that there can be confusion between their products, American justice seems to have decided otherwise.
Having failed to reach an agreement with RIM, Basis International has indeed required from a New Mexico court a temporary restraining order related to the use by the Canadian brand BBX, which specifically DevCon event on his Asia. The order in question he was finally granted on Tuesday.
In pursuing the use of the mark BBX, RIM would be exposed to prosecution more so. Rather than continue its efforts, and risk having undermined efforts to communicate about its future system, the Canadian seems to have opted to change its tune. And perhaps it is not bad: after all, the Blackberry brand is that by which we know the best products today?
Blackberry 10, ex-BBX was unveiled in late October. Based on QNX, it is the future of mobile environments dedicated to RIM devices and should eventually find its place on the manufacturer’s smartphones, as well as his tablets (currently equipped PlayBook OS).
